Gabriel Karlsson

Gabriel Karlsson

Gabriel Karlsson, b. 1988, lives and works in Malmö, Sweden. He earned an MFA from Malmö Art Academy. Karlsson combines traditional mould-making techniques with a conceptual approach, inviting reflection on how sculpture can exist between inner and outer space. He often works with everyday objects, reshaping and reusing them to create subtle, contemplative sculptures and installations. His works form a dialogue between objects, each moving beyond its ordinary form to communicate on its own terms.

In spring 2026, Gabriel Karlsson participates in the exhibition Värn at Moderna Museet Malmö, as part of a larger collaborative presentation together with John Skoog. Karlsson’s work has previously been shown at Malmö Konsthall, Ravinen in Båstad, Artipelag in Stockholm, Skissernas Museum in Lund, Landings Project Space in Vestfossen (Norway), Arnstedt Östra Karup, and Study For Art Platform in Stockholm. In 2021, Gabriel Karlsson was awarded the Fredrik Roos Scholarship.
